How to beat Jet Lag

Before you start out your vacation or business trip, you are most likely to lose out on sleep because of sheer excitement. To avoid jetlag, it is essential that you get adequate rest and sleep and as a matter of fact, try to get even more rest and sleep than usual. It is advisable to sleep even while on the plane to compensate for the likely lack of sleep thereafter.

It is a fact that today most airlines are trying their best to ensure that you have a comfortable flight, and that you arrive as fresh as possible, at your destination. Many leading airlines offer a total bed experience with the seat going all the way to become flat. They offer blankets and pillows and even night dress.

When you are traveling out of your normal time zone, try to keep to normal bedtimes. While you might initially have troubles of maladjustment, you will soon overcome this problem. This will help your body fall into a new rhythm for the time when you're away. Even if you are not able to sleep right away, make an attempt to get into bed and close your eyes until you fall asleep.

Eventually your body will pick up the clue and you'll get all the sleep that you need. Depending on which direction you are traveling whether east or west, and how much sleep you require, you should set your watch to the local time of your destination as you board, and sleep according to that.

It is necessary to bestow some attention to what you eat before embarking on your plane journey. It is best to avoid sugar and processed foods and fatty foods that are difficult to digest. Instead consume food that is natural, balanced and of low calories. This will ensure that you are at your best health when starting off on a vacation or business journey. The airline may provide a meal for you but if you are not hungry do not accept it. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as they help you digest properly.

One chief problem of jet lag is dehydration on your trip and to combat this, make sure you drink plenty of fluids as you travel - particularly water. Please take special note that alcohol can dehydrate the body further and so should be scrupulously avoided. And if you are compelled to drink for social or business reasons, just follow each glass with plenty of water.

Refrain from caffeine so that you can sleep better and feel better during your trip. Save the caffeinated drinks to consume after landing as you will want to stay awake and enjoy your trip.

One of the assured ways to lessen jet lag is to do some form of physical exercise as soon as you arrive at your destination. This can be as simple as a walk or a few small workouts in your hotel room. Do a few jumping jacks to get your heart pumping and start touring the town for sightseeing. Be alert and if possible, strike a conversation with people around.

Air travel kits

Carry with you  Travel Kit that includes oils that you can smell for energy as well as soothing oils for relaxation, like lavender. Many people find effective this type of aromatherapy.

If possible, have a quick shower immediately upon landing. If you are not able to check-in to your hotel early, shower at the airport soon after arrival. This way, you will feel refreshed after your long flight, and be ready to start the day.
