Travel Tips While Flying With Kids
More and more families are taking to the skies during this season as the
summer has landed and the children are out of the school. Flying in business class flights remains the safest and coziest way to travel and it would be
wise if families consider taking some safety tips during their travel.
With the increase in the number of air travelers, the aircraft manufacturers,
airline and the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) are constantly identifying
new ways to make the business class travel safer. Everyone including babies
would be screened at the airport terminals as abided by the transportation
security rules before they go through the security checkpoint. But the authorities
make sure that there won’t be any need to be separated from the baby.

The security officers are specially trained and they understand your concern
for your kids. The children would be approached gently and would be given
respect. If the child turns uncomfortable or upset, the officers would seek
your guidance to relive the child’s mood. What you have to make sure
is that you would not leave babies in an infant carrier while it goes through
the x-ray machine.
At the x-ray check point, all carry-on baggage including children’s
bags and items would be screened. Child related items like strollers, baby
carriers, and backpacks would go through the x-ray machine. If any of the
child-related equipment does not fit through the machine, officers would inspect
it. Once the inspection is over, you can seek the help of security officer
for gathering your items.
While walking through the metal detector, it would be better to let your child
walk separately if he/she can manage without your assistance. There are restrictions
regarding the amount of medications, baby formula and food, milk and juice
to taken along with you while you travel. The quantity of these items should
not exceed 3.4 ounces i.e. 100 ml and should not be in the zip-top bag. These
items should be declared for inspection at check points.

Make sure that you keep your seatbelt buckled at all times once you are inside
the aircraft. This is necessary even when the flight is not moving as turbulence
can happen unexpectedly. You must know that the kids are safer in seats and
not in laps. Also the FAA strongly recommends that children under 2 years
of age should be secured with a certified child restraint system like CARES
which is a belt and buckle device that attaches directly to the airplane seatbelt.
