Business travel assessment offers new optimism for decade's start

Based on a new survey, more than a quarter of business travel buyers conveyed they had additional money to spend in 2010 and more than a third will book extra trips. Some 1400 business travel managers lately surveyed by the Business Travel and Meetings Show discovered a hopeful outlook for the beginning of the new decade, with 76% of those polled stating they thought the recession would finish by the end of the year.

Statistics showed 27% of budgets will be increased for 2010 and 35% of buyers will arrange extra trips. Four in ten buyers will handle the same amount of trips in 2010 and only a quarter will formulate fewer bookings. However an enormous 81% said they had little choice but to implement stricter pricing policies, with 44% confirming they will book lower class airline tickets and 22% lesser quality accommodation. Meanwhile 46% plan to increase their use of video conferencing.

Business Travel & Meetings Show events director David Chapple stated that the business travel industry has gone through a very rough ride over the last 18 months, so these survey results are a much desired sparkle of optimism as the whole world enters a new decade.
